holiday festivities!

This time of year is go, go, go nonstop for our family! We are a fun family full of traditions and I love it! The only negative is that the holidays whiz by way too fast! I cannot believe that Christmas Eve is tomorrow! We've had an awesome week which started with church on Sunday morning! Emma was the only one who was cooperative in letting me get her photo. I didn't have time to beg the boys.....but their turn will come whether they like it or not! Sunday night we went to my aunt and uncle's house in Hooper for their traditional Bowden family Christmas dinner and games. We play the famous candy bar game that my kids LOVE and get so excited for! Monday night we went to the Energy Solutions arena for the Larry H. Miller Christmas Sing-a-long that my Grandpa Robert C. Bowden conducts! We have gone to this for years and this year was by far my favorite! Fischer took his friend Jaden and he said that he had so much fun he wants to come with us every year! After the sing-a-long we were treated to Cold Stone by my parents! It was a great night! Tomorrow we will go to my Grandma Lund's house for the most delicious Christmas Eve dinner like we do every year as well. Christmas night will be prime rib dinner at my parents house. Can't wait! Hope you all are enjoying your family traditions as well and have much to be MERRY about!

Life is merry & bright!

Notice anything different?

Miss Emma has a new style!

Last week we cut about 12 inches off for Locks of Love and then about another 2 inches to cut and style her hair! We had an icky situation last week and I have debated putting it here on my blog but I have decided I will. She came home last week with head lice. I freaked out, went to the store, treated her hair, cried, took her and got her hair chopped off, came home and treated her hair again. It was so hard for me to see her hair cut short but all is good now. We have always tried curling her hair with sponge curlers or a curling iron but it just doesn't work. I'm sure because of the length and the thickness. Ever since we got it cut she has been wanting to try it again with sponge curlers. However, she has been sick for several days and today was the first day she was going to go back to school. She was so excited to show off her haircut and so last night we spent an hour putting sponge curlers in and she ended up throwing up all night long and is devastated that she can't go to school again today! Poor girl! I feel so bad for her. She is bored out of her mind. So we took some pictures and this was the result! She said it looks like she has a wig on! LOL! Too cute! She is beautiful no matter what!

On a side note: I treated her for head lice a third time just to be safe because I am a freak! I also treated everyone else in our home, washed EVERYTHING that can possibly be washed, disinfected from top to bottom...whew! We have never had this happen to any of our kids all these years in public school! I called the school because I wanted to give them a heads up. They informed me that they no longer do head checks or send home letters with the kids to inform the parents, it is all confidential. So just be aware of this and check for head lice often in the winter.

He would rather skip tomorrow altogether but we just love him too much to let that happen! I'm so happy to be celebrating two of my favorite people! My world is such a happy place with the two of them in it. Love them so much my heart could just burst!:)

And this my friends is what happens at the end of a fabulous day!

And the baby-proofing begins....

This little guy has gone mobile! He gets into everything....and so the baby-proofing begins. He puts everything into his mouth and luckily just "stores" it there. I have been pulling random things out of his mouth non-stop over the last few weeks, mostly paper. He got into the kids' gingerbread houses the other day and had a good time sucking on the poor gingerbread man's head. Good times.

Anyways, Crew turned 8 months and I have been wanting to document about this current stage for a couple weeks but time just gets away too fast around here. I wish I had done more of this when my other kids were babies.

{Crew @ 8 months}
*got his first tooth on November 16th, second tooth on November 18th
*officially stopped nursing at 8 months
*started crawling the day after he turned 8 months
*started climbing and pulling himself up
*is going through a terrible sleeping phase
*has had two ear infections since he got tubes put in
*LOVES, loves to eat any and all baby food
*hates to get his diaper changed, it's becoming quite a challenge now that he is a lot stronger
*hates to get dressed and have anything pulled over his head
*hates to be buckled into his car seat (this is not fun even when he is in a good mood, but if you do this when he is in a bad mood, watch out!)
*loves bath time
*pulls himself up into the position that looks like he is getting ready to do a somersault and just stays there until he gets tired (picture ahead, please don't take offense!)
*loves his momma the most :)
*has become more attached to his binky
*gets so excited when we go to pick the kids up from school and they get into the car

Crew is so much fun to play with. When the kids go to school I love to just sit and play with him. He has a very serious personality compared to the rest of the kids. So when his playful side comes out, it just makes it that much more fun. We still just go crazy over this little guy! I hate being away from him for even an hour. I was gone for a very long time yesterday and last night until late and I was going crazy wondering how he was surviving without me! LOL!~ Love my baby! I just wish he would stay my baby, he is quickly approaching ONE all too soon!

Crew has a set of bath toys that I keep in the tub for him to play with but if Stockton or Emma take a bath with him he always wants whatever they are playing with. It is so funny to watch! He will scream and have a little tantrum until he gets "that" toy! If you try and sneak it away and hand him his bath toys, he gets mad. He ONLY wants the toy that isn't the same as what he usually plays with. Sometimes it is the dumbest toy too, he doesn't care. So we end up keeping a new toy in the tub for him to play with but the minute the kids bring a different toy in the tub that he hasn't seen before, then it starts all over again! It is seriously the funniest thing ever.

Don't be upset, it's a baby bum for cryin' out loud! And a cute one to boot!

Life is short!

Our fabulous Thanksgiving weekend!

Our Thanksgiving weekend actually starts Wednesday night with The Pie pizza followed by a movie which was The Christmas Carol this year. My family has done this for as long as I can remember! Thanks mom and dad for an awesome night!

Thursday morning we slept in a little longer and lazzied around a bit until the early afternoon and then we went and saw The Blind Side....loved, loved it! After the movie we went to my Grandma's house for a delicious Thanksgiving feast! She is the most amazing cook which always results in overeating......yummy! Thanks Grandma! Later that evening we put the 3 little ones to bed and me, Curtis and Mitchell went and saw New Moon! A perfect way to end a perfect day! Fischer stay home and watched the Broncos game and the Jazz game!

Friday morning Curtis got up and went and did some Christmas shopping while I made 125 relief society invitations...whew, glad that's done! Then we went to a funeral for a wonderful person, Melody Hart. I loved hearing her children speak about what an amazing mother, grandmother, etc. she was. Made me want to be a better person just hearing how much love she gave to everyone, especially her family. She will be missed. After the funeral we ran a few errands and ended the evening eating dinner at The Training Table!

This morning my mom came and picked up the kids and took them to her house to decorate their gingerbread houses which is another tradition we do every year that we love. Emma made it plain and clear that I was not to help her one bit. I ended up staying home and started pulling out some of the Christmas decorations! Love this time of year! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving this year and had much to be thankful for.

I have so much to be thankful for this year. We have been so blessed and I feel so fortunate for all that I have. Some of the things I am most grateful for this year include:

my dedicated husband
my 5 children
my home
health insurance
my husband's job
the gospel
doctors/hospitals/medicine
family/relatives
great friends
safe neighborhood
loving ward
my Savior

Life is a blessing!

New Moon~

(Swoon) Ok, I am not an Edward fan so I totally LOVED this movie! I am Team Jacob all the way....sorry all you faithful Team Edward girls! I won't say much more for all you unlucky people that didn't get to see this before it came out like I did....don't be hatin'! I won't spoil anything other than rest assure you that it was awesome!

So my neighbor/friend was able to rent out a theater at The District for a premier 6:00 p.m. showing yesterday. My other friend Karey did all the hard leg work to organize the event and make it a success! Thanks Karey! It was a lot of fun and now I'm sad it's over. I think I might just need to go watch Twilight right now since I'm stuck at home all day!

HaLLoWeeN:)

Halloween was short and not so sweet this year! It was not a bad Halloween but not the most memorable. For the last 12 years, we have always gone in my parents neighborhood....can you say FULL SIZE CANDY BARS? Oh yeah! But this year my kids decided that they wanted to go around our neighborhood and be able to see their friends. Much to my dismay, I agreed and went to the store and bought 5 bags of candy that I didn't like so that I wouldn't self-indulge every few minutes.

Well, first off Crew had started getting a chest and head cold so he wasn't in the best mood to begin with. I was not about to waste the money I had used to purchase a darn Halloween costume for my 7 month old (what in the world was I thinking?) So, his grumpy little self got stuffed into his puffy monster costume and his chubby little cheeks into his silly hat that lasted just enough time to snap a photo. I'm still kicking myself for spending the money on that adorable costume. This photo turned out to be a $20.00 picture, guess I better scrapbook it!

Mitchell stayed at home to pass out our candy because he does not like dressing up and he doesn't like eating candy (not sure he's my child). So we took Emma, Stockton, and Crew on a journey around the neighborhood that was ever so short because no one was home. Needless to say, they didn't see their friends and they hardly got any candy. And at the end of the night we had almost 5 bags of candy leftover that I DO NOT LIKE~! Of course that is a good thing because then I won't eat it but just more money I wasted!
Lesson learned: It's just like when you go to a restaurant and you always order the same exact thing because you know for a fact it will be good and you won't be disappointed. And whenever you decide to change it up a bit and try something else you realize you should have just ordered what you know you like!

Next year.......we're going to Grandma's!

On a more positive side, we went to my Aunt Laurie's house for dinner after....like we've done for years too and it was JUST RIGHT! Thank goodness we stuck to that tradition to end the night!

Life is a lesson!

HaPPY BiRTHDaY FiSCHER!

This cute little boy is officially a teenager!
And has turned into this handsome young man!

Happy Birthday Fischer!

Here are just 13 of the many reasons we love you!

1. You are so funny! There is never a dull moment with you around. That doesn't mean you don't drive us nuts a lot of the time but your witty humor always gives us a good laugh.

2. You are incredibly smart. Always have been. You have always done so well in school and it just comes naturally to you. You are a quick learner and can understand anything that is thrown your way the first time. You are a problem solver and a very creative thinker. There is no hiding anything from you. You can always read between the lines and put two and two together. I am so proud of your "almost" straight A grades...keep it up!

3. Despite the fact that you can never find the garbage can to throw your trash away, you are very responsible. I can rely on you for a lot of things. You have always had a lot of responsibility. Because of this, you are very mature for your age in many different areas.

4. You are stubborn but it has proven to be an advantage for you time and time again. Enough said

5. You like to be with your family. I hope this never changes.

6. You have always had many friends, which must mean something good.

7. You have determination.

8. You come home on time when we tell you what time to be home.

9. You are very affectionate. You are a "touchy feely" kind of person. You like to hug and hang your arms on us...and snuggle. Not sure where you get this from because your dad and I are not like this. I think it's so hilarious when you and dad are watching football on the couch together and he has to push you away because you are snuggled up as close as can be to him. Dad might not think it's very manly but I'm sure the girls will love it someday.....SOMEDAY I SAID!

10. You don't try to get away with things that we don't allow, you just accept it and move on. You don't try to change our "rules" and "reasons" for making certain decisions as parents.

11. You have made some stupid moves in your short time but at the end of the day you always seem to make good choices, especially ones that matter most. I hope this never changes too!

12. Whether you want to admit it or not, you love your brothers and sister so much. You have a good heart.

13. You are an all around great kid! Stay true to yourself and be the best you can be.

When Stockton came home from school today he went straight in my room and made a birthday card for Fischer. When he showed it to me I had to laugh because it was so cute. Here it is:

I want to share one more cute thing about Fischer. When I was pregnant with Crew, I was having severe gallbladder attacks. One week Curtis had gone out of town and my visiting teaching companion called to see if I could go visit one of our ladies that evening. Fischer was gone and was due to be home any minute. I told Mitchell that I was leaving to go visit someone and would only be gone about 30 minutes. I told Mitchell that Fischer would be home any second and to tell him where I was. Well Mitchell forgot and had no idea where I was when Fischer asked. Fischer started looking all over for me and calling all around for me. My car was in the garage but I was nowhere to be found. Fischer started panicking and freaking out. He was standing outside in the driveway with the phone having a complete heart attack by the time I got home. He was so upset and told me that he was so worried sick and that he thought something had happened to me. Awww! He has his sweet moments.

The "FUTURE" Elder Timothy!

He's so handsome!

The Young Men in our Stake were given the great opportunity to be able to sing in the choir at the Conference Center for the Priesthood Session that will be held tonight! This took a lot of dedication for the past month for these young men and their leaders. I am so excited they were able to take part in this and I know it will be an amazing experience. Fischer had to leave today at 1:30 and the session starts at 6:00 p.m. It will be a long day but a wonderful evening. They will be sitting so close to the Prophet, President Thomas S. Monson. I hope that they may even get to shake his hand. I can't wait to hear about it when they come home tonight! With Fischer all dressed up in his new suit and tie, I can just vision what he will look like in the near future as Elder Timothy!

To learn more about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints go here.

To learn more about General Conference which is taking place this weekend go here.

6 months old!

Time flies when your having fun, right? RIGHT! We have had so much fun with our little Crew man! He has seriously brought so much joy to our home. And I really can't believe he has been a part of our lives for half a year. It is so much fun having a baby around this house again after such a long time. We all go crazy over every little new thing he does, which is daily lately! If he is laughing, we all gather around and act foolish to keep the giggles coming and coming. If he is trying a new kind of baby food we all gather around and watch his expressions. It doesn't matter what Crew is doing he has a group of little (and big) spectators watching him as he grows and cheering him on and of course loving him unconditionally. I love watching my kids interact with him, it melts my heart!

Fischer is a big help obviously because he is the oldest. But I love that when we go places and I am luggin' the heavy carseat + 19 pound baby around, he comes up and takes it out of my hands and carries it.

Mitchell is so sweet with Crew, it really brings out his soft side which I love. The other night I had put the kids to bed and ran to the grocery store. By the time I went to bed it was pretty late and everyone was asleep. I walked upstairs and noticed Crew's bedroom door open. I went to check on him and he was asleep but in a different spot and with a different blanket on him. The next morning I asked Curtis if he had gotten up with Crew while I was gone the night before and he said "No, but I think I might have heard Mitchell go in there!" So I went and asked Mitchell if he had gone in Crew's room and he said "Yes, I heard him crying so I went in there and rocked him to sleep and put him back in his crib!" AWWW! So sweet!

Stockton is the best with Crew when Crew is crying. Well, let me rephrase that! Stockton is the most patient with Crew when Crew is crying. Of course everyone fights over Crew when he is in a fun and playful mood but if he is screaming his lungs out, it's a different story. Everyone magically disappears! But Stockton will always pick him up and try to console him and bounce him or sing to him.
Emma is going to be the best darn mommy someday. She gets quite the workout carrying Crew up and down the stairs all day long. Yes, I do let her! Sometimes in the morning she will even go get Crew out of his crib when he wakes up and will take him in her room and play with him! She is amazing for a little 5 year old. I don't know what I would do without her help. She can change diapers, feed him, and helps get him ready for bed after his bath (which I give him) LOL! She loves having someone to take care of. Forget pretend babies, Emma has a real baby to take care of these days and she loves it.

There is no doubt Crew is adored. He will never lack affection because if someone isn't lovin' on him, it's because someone else already is! We just dig him!

Life is the greatest!

FiRST DAY!

Little miss muffet is now officially in Kindergarten and loving it. Last week we went and met her teacher and took a tour of her classroom. After we left she said "My teacher is so nice and cute, I am never going to be bad for her!" She also said "I sure hope she gives me TONS of homework every night!" Oh to be young and love school!
